- Nvidia, the artificial intelligence chip maker, and Microsoft are expected to unveil within days the first Windows PC powered by an Nvidia main processor, Axios reported on Saturday, citing sources.

Computers powered by Nvidia chips are expected to be released from Microsoft's Surface brand and from other computer manufacturers, including Dell.

Microsoft's efforts to switch to chips that offer longer battery life have not yet resulted in a significant sales surge.

Apple, Microsoft's main competitor which uses its own chips, unveiled updated MacBooks in March equipped with the latest M5 series chips.

The report stated that Microsoft and Nvidia will unveil the new personal computers at the Computex trade show in Taiwan and Microsoft's Build developer conference in San Francisco.

Neither Microsoft nor Nvidia responded to requests for comment.

Official accounts for Windows, Nvidia and chip design company Arm on the X platform indicated an announcement to be made on Friday about a "new era for PCs," accompanied by what appeared to be coordinates in the Taiwanese capital, Taipei.

Reuters was the first to report in 2023 that Nvidia planned to design central processing units that would run Microsoft's Windows operating system and use technology from ARM.
