Annual inflation in Saudi Arabia rose 1.7% in April.

- Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Statistics said the kingdom's consumer price index rose 1.7 percent year-on-year in April as a result of higher prices for housing, utilities, fuel and transportation.

She explained in a report that the annual increase is mainly due to a rise in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel prices by 3.8 percent, transportation prices by 1 percent, and restaurant and restaurant services prices by the same percentage.

The agency reported that inflation rose 0.2 percent month-on-month in April.
