July 13 (Reuters) - The Standard & Poor's 500 and Nasdaq Composite indexes fell at the open on Monday, after a new escalation between the United States and Iran in the Gulf worried investors and pushed oil prices higher, while shares of semiconductor companies also came under pressure.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 39.5 points, or 0.08 percent, to 52,676.53.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index opened down 27.9 points, or 0.37 percent, at 7547.53.
The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 193.3 points, or 0.74 percent, to 26,088.313 points.
