- Chinese automaker BYD announced on Thursday new service packages aimed at encouraging more customers to use its Gadz Eye driving assistance system, also known locally as "Eagle Eye".

This move is the latest effort by the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer to build confidence in its driver assistance system and promote the adoption of its three-level Eagle Eye system, amid increasing price pressures, declining domestic demand, and falling profits.

Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD, said the company aims to achieve a "zero traffic accident record" through intelligent driving technology.

BYD stated that it will fully cover compensation and maintenance for any accidents that occur if drivers are using the company's City Navigation feature, without affecting their insurance premiums in the following year, as part of one of its pledges to launch driver assistance systems more widely.

BYD's quarterly profits recently recorded their biggest drop since 2020, despite the company launching new technologies. The company's biggest battery upgrade in six years failed to stem the slowdown in domestic sales.
