Powell was appointed interim president of the federation until Warsh was sworn in.
WASHINGTON, May 16 (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve on Friday named Jerome Powell as interim chairman until Kevin Warsh is sworn in as the new U.S. central bank chairman.
Warsh is expected to be sworn in soon before US President Donald Trump, but no date has been announced.
Powell's eight-year tenure as chairman of the Federal Reserve officially ended on Friday.
Council members Stephen Miran and Michelle Bowman said in a joint statement that they do not support the measure that keeps Powell in the presidency because it does not include a specific time period for his temporary position.
