Reports: Uruguay forced to postpone its trip to America for the match against Saudi Arabia
June 14 (Reuters Sports Service) - Uruguay's Silver team was delayed on Sunday from Mexico to the United States for the World Cup finals due to a document error, local media reported.
The flight was delayed by several hours because the paperwork required by FIFA to conduct the flight was not ready at the time of departure.
The Uruguayan national team, based in Playa del Carmen, was scheduled to travel to Miami for their opening Group H match against Saudi Arabia on Monday, local time.
This postponement could also lead to the cancellation of the mandatory press conference that was scheduled to be held by coach Marcelo Bielsa and player Jose Maria Gimenez.
The Uruguayan Football Association and FIFA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
