June 16 (Reuters) - The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose to a new record high on Tuesday thanks to continued declines in oil prices amid optimism about a peace deal between the United States and Iran, while SpaceX surpassed Amazon's market capitalization to become the fifth most valuable U.S. company.
By 9:31 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had risen 306.27 points, or 0.59 percent, to 51,977.30. The S&P 500 was up 0.95 points, or 0.01 percent, at 7,555.24.
The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 8.40 points, or 0.03 percent, to 26,675.54.
