Zawya - Press Releases: Fortinet deepens its partnership with Nvidia to secure AI applications within enterprises

Fortinet, a global leader in cybersecurity and network and cybersecurity integration, has launched new capabilities to enhance its AI Security Gateway (FortiAIGate), relying on the technology architecture and AI platforms from NVIDIA, in a move aimed at enabling organizations to secure AI applications, associated workloads, sensitive data, and self-agents in real time within data centers and cloud environments.

This development comes amid the rapid expansion in the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies within institutions, coinciding with the growing use of generative AI applications and self-agents in operational environments, as well as the escalating requirements of digital governance, data sovereignty, and the protection of critical technological infrastructure.

Smart protection

The joint solution aims to enable organizations to safely develop, deploy, and scale AI-based agent-based applications while maintaining operational efficiency and performance levels.

FortiAIGate also provides direct protection within the data path between applications and intelligent models, giving organizations comprehensive operational visibility and real-time monitoring, along with high-performance protection with low response times, suitable for sensitive environments and sectors with complex operational requirements.

With regard to protecting AI environments, the solution applies advanced security controls to Large Language Models (LLMs) during actual operation, along with securing the surrounding ecosystem, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and AI agents, thus supporting the operation of smart applications within more secure and stable environments.

Digital sovereignty

The solution supports organizations in developing and managing AI solutions using their internal infrastructure, data, and technical personnel, thereby enhancing compliance with local regulations and data protection requirements.

It also allows the use of "NVIDIA Nemotron" safety models to monitor interactions between users and smart systems, and to analyze actual inputs and responses associated with suspicious activities.

Regarding data sovereignty requirements, the solution allows organizations to reduce their reliance on external AI providers, while keeping the data used for training and reasoning within national borders, thus supporting privacy, national security, and technical independence, while adhering to data protection regulations such as the European General Data Protection Regulation ( GDPR ), especially in highly regulated sectors.

Zero confidence

FortiAIGate relies on a Zero Trust model to secure AI environments by managing the data traffic of intelligent models and imposing strict controls on inputs and outputs, including protection against Prompt Injection Attacks, limiting the misuse of large language models, preventing leaks of sensitive data, and filtering harmful or unauthorized content.

The solution also enhances understanding of the operational context of smart models, thereby increasing the reliability of AI-supported decisions and procedures, and ensuring their compliance with approved security policies and regulatory frameworks.

Institutional integration

In this context, John Whittle, Chief Operating Officer at Fortinet, said: “The accelerating adoption of AI technologies within organizations makes cybersecurity a key element in supporting this transformation,” explaining that the collaboration with Nvidia aims to help organizations secure their AI environments, enhance their performance, maintain operational efficiency, control costs, and comply with data sovereignty requirements.

Whittle added that FortiAIGate combines Fortinet's unified cybersecurity platform, "Fortinet Security Fabric," with Nvidia's high-performance computing capabilities, with the goal of countering digital threats, from malicious inputs and harmful commands to data leak risks, without impacting workflows or application performance.

Instant security

Justin Boitano, vice president of enterprise AI platforms at Nvidia, said that the accelerated shift towards AI agents is boosting demand for secure and high-performance enterprise computing platforms, noting that the integration of FortiAIGate with Nvidia’s AI platform provides a zero-trust security model, along with real-time security governance that helps reduce the threat landscape and accelerate risk response.

Advanced performance

The FortiAIGate solution leverages NVIDIA’s advanced AI infrastructure, including NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and the NVIDIA Hopper platform, along with the NVIDIA Dynamo framework for inference processes.

This integration contributes to the efficient operation of smart applications, with improved performance versus cost, by reducing energy consumption, minimizing the need for additional devices, and freeing up CPU resources for basic operational workloads within organizations.

The solution also supports NVIDIA Multi-Instance GPU technology, which enables the division of processing resources and isolation of various faults, thereby enhancing performance stability and quality of service in large-scale enterprise environments.

Flexible deployment

Regarding operational flexibility, FortiAIGate supports multiple deployment options including on-premises environments, cloud, hybrid environments, and edge computing, with centralized management and unified protection across different operating environments.

It is also available in several operating models including physical devices powered by graphics processing units for data centers, virtual machines, and NVIDIA-certified operating containers, giving organizations technical flexibility that aligns with their operational and organizational needs.

Direct deployment between applications and AI models helps meet data sovereignty requirements, while maintaining consistent protection across different environments.

operational value

The solution provides high-throughput protection levels with lower resource and energy consumption compared to traditional CPU-based solutions, enabling organizations to run AI applications with low latency while maintaining performance levels.

It also contributes to improving performance versus cost, increasing return on investment, and reducing total cost of ownership, thus supporting the safe expansion of the use of artificial intelligence within business environments.

Technological transformation

This development reflects the accelerating shift in the cybersecurity market towards specialized solutions for protecting artificial intelligence systems, at a time when organizations are expanding their use of smart applications within operational processes, advanced analytics, and automation services.

The collaboration between Fortinet and Nvidia also reinforces the Secure-by-Design approach, by integrating cybersecurity and regulatory compliance into the core of the technology architecture, supporting the building of safer and more reliable AI environments.
