Zawya - Press Releases: The UAE Cyber Security Council to launch a center of excellence to enhance the country's cybersecurity ecosystem; Commvault collaborates with
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: The UAE Cyber Security Council and Commvault announced the launch of an Innovation Center of Excellence in Abu Dhabi, a move that embodies the depth of ongoing cooperation between the two sides and contributes to enhancing the resilience of operational processes and supporting the readiness of institutions to face the rapidly evolving digital challenges at the national level.
The Innovation Center of Excellence was unveiled during Commvault’s Shift Dubai event at the Museum of the Future in Dubai. The new center is set to become a regional platform for research and innovation in cyber resilience and digital infrastructure protection, supporting organizations’ efforts to enhance their preparedness against evolving cyber threats.
The center will include a dedicated space for hosting executive meetings and collaboration sessions with clients and partners, along with interactive facilities and equipment that will showcase Commvault's cyber resilience capabilities in scenarios simulating real-world work environments. These training environments will allow participants to experience simulated, AI-powered cyberattacks, helping them develop their skills in responding to and recovering from digital incidents. They will also provide an opportunity to test mechanisms for restoring critical systems and services upon which organizations rely, including cloud applications, user management systems, data access control systems, and digital identity management systems such as Active Directory.
This collaboration also supports the UAE’s vision of building a secure and sustainable digital economy, through the creation of an integrated system that brings together government agencies, critical infrastructure operators, academic institutions, startups and global technology partners under one umbrella, thereby consolidating cooperation and stimulating innovation in the field of cybersecurity and the protection of digital infrastructure.
A key component of this initiative is the creation of a regional environment for the Commvault Redverse platform, which includes a suite of interactive simulation programs designed to simulate cyberattack scenarios and how to address them. This platform allows government agencies and institutions to test realistic cyberattacks and practice response and recovery mechanisms, thereby enhancing their preparedness to confront evolving threats.
Unlike traditional approaches that focus on detecting attacks and mitigating their impact, this platform provides organizations with a comprehensive simulation that replicates the aftermath of an actual attack. This includes managing the effects on systems and data, testing response and recovery procedures, and restoring digital services to operation in a realistic environment. This helps participating organizations enhance their preparedness for modern cyberattacks, including AI-driven threats.
In terms of developing national talent, Commvault and the UAE Cyber Security Council will collaborate to prepare a new generation of cyber resilience specialists through an online training program that allows trainees to learn at their own pace. The program will provide university students with opportunities to obtain specialized training and professional certifications aligned with industry requirements, enabling them to achieve professional accreditation in cyber resilience upon successful completion of the program.
This comes in support of the UAE’s priorities in the field of cybersecurity, by contributing to the preparation of qualified personnel who possess the necessary skills to keep pace with digital changes, and enhancing their knowledge of the latest data protection technologies and cloud solutions used in institutional work environments.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Government Cyber Security Council, explained that cyber resilience has become a national imperative, encompassing not only responding to attacks but also rapid recovery to ensure business continuity. He stated, "The Center of Excellence, launched in collaboration with Commvault, contributes to this objective by training personnel in government entities and essential service providers on realistic cyber crisis recovery scenarios, in addition to qualifying them to obtain accredited professional certifications." He emphasized that this step reinforces the UAE's efforts to solidify its digital sovereignty and enhance its preparedness to confront current and future cyber threats.
For his part, Fadi Rishmani, Vice President of Commvault for Emerging Markets in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with the UAE Cyber Security Council on this initiative, which aims to support institutions in the country and enhance their ability to build resilient and prepared operational processes to face growing cyber risks. By combining Commvault’s expertise in cyber resilience and operational efficiency with the strategic role played by the Cyber Security Council, this initiative will contribute to consolidating the UAE’s position as a global center for cyber security innovation and supporting the building of an integrated digital ecosystem based on trust and security.”
