Dubai, the One Body Co. Together community sports initiative, launched by Kate and her husband, English football legend and former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand, in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, achieved great success and widespread participation, amid a large public interaction in a scene that reflects the growing awareness of the importance of physical and mental health, in the third session held at Dubai Hills Mall as part of the Our Summer is Sport initiative with the support of Lulu Lumin.

His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, attended part of the event, which saw the participation of more than 300 participants of different nationalities, ages and physical levels. Issa Sharif, Director of the Sports Events Department at the Dubai Sports Council, also participated in the events.

Commenting on this great success and widespread interaction, Kate Ferdinand stated: "This massive turnout today has demonstrated to us how desperately people need to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily digital life and its increasing isolation. What we witnessed goes beyond being a training session; it is a vital space that brought us together to build sustainable healthy habits, and to affirm together that true physical and mental recovery begins with human connection and continuous physical activity."

For his part, English football legend Rio Ferdinand, who moved to Dubai with his wife and children, indicated that Dubai has become his "home," and that he feels "loved" and very welcome in the emirate. He confirmed that their vision for this initiative has begun to bear fruit strongly, adding: "We live in an era dominated by constant sitting and work pressures that drain our energies, which has caused many to lose their natural balance. Seeing this large number of people who woke up early in the morning to participate with us in this activity confirms our message that movement and physical activity are the basic pillar for restoring our physical and mental health alike."

This sporting and social event marked a significant milestone in efforts to address the pressures of modern life, combat mental fatigue, and reconnect individuals with their communities through physical activity. This event is an extension of Kate Ferdinand’s wellness platform, which she and her husband are expanding to include major community fitness experiences aimed at making sport a daily practice accessible to everyone.

This successful initiative is also the result of a strategic partnership with the Dubai Sports Council, as part of the emirate’s ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life and establish sports and physical activity as a daily lifestyle for all members of society.

In this context, Issa Al Sharif, Director of Sports Events at the Council, praised the success of the event, saying: “The wonderful community interaction we witnessed today embodies the success of the ‘Sports for All’ strategy adopted by Dubai. We are proud to support this initiative, which has broken down traditional barriers and presented a comprehensive and inspiring model that motivates all members of society to participate, regardless of their fitness level.”

The initiative will include more free training sessions aimed at engaging a wider range of community members and creating an interactive environment that encourages exercise and physical activity, further cementing Dubai’s reputation as a global hub for community wellbeing and active living.
