May 13 (Reuters) - The Standard & Poor's 500 index was little changed at the open on Wednesday as stronger-than-expected U.S. producer price data reinforced bets that the Federal Reserve will continue its monetary tightening policy by keeping interest rates unchanged throughout this year.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 86 points, or 0.17 percent, at the open to 49,674.58.
The S&P 500 index edged up just 8.2 points, or 0.11 percent, to 7409.12 at the open. The Nasdaq Composite rose 59.4 points, or 0.23 percent, to 26147.646 at the open.
