June 3 (Reuters) - U.S. stock indexes the Standard & Poor's and Dow Jones opened lower on Wednesday, as escalating conflict in the Middle East pushed up oil prices and raised doubts about a quick resolution to the war.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 86.9 points, or 0.17 percent, to 51,220.92. The S&P 500 dropped 4.5 points, or 0.06 percent, to 7,605.31, while the Nasdaq Composite declined 1.1 points to 27,092.845.
