Stellantis recalls more than 1.3 million Jeep vehicles due to fire concerns
WASHINGTON, June 9 (Reuters) - Stellantis Corp. said on Tuesday it was recalling more than 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks worldwide because of fire concerns, and urged owners to park their vehicles away from buildings or other vehicles until the problem is fixed.
The recall includes Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models from 2021 to 2025 due to a problem with the electrical connections in the wiring of the electric power steering pump, which in rare cases may cause flammable materials to overheat, potentially leading to a vehicle fire.
Stellantis said the recall includes approximately 1.08 million vehicles in the United States, 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and about 125,000 in other markets around the world.
Stellantis added that the recall process will include inspection and possibly repair or replacement of the wiring harness or the electric power steering pump.
She added that they are working to expedite the provision of solutions and expect to complete the recall-related repairs by July at the latest.
She stated that she had received reports of one possible injury related to this issue, but no accidents or deaths had occurred.
