SEOUL, June 4 (Reuters) - Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) said it has won a contract to build and operate the second phase of the Jafurah combined-cycle power plant in Saudi Arabia, expanding its presence in the kingdom's energy market.
The company expects to generate total revenue of approximately 2.1 trillion won ($1.4 billion) from the project.
KEPCO said in a statement Wednesday that it had signed power and steam sales agreements with Saudi Aramco for the project, and had completed a construction contract with Doosan Enerility.
KEPCO indicated that the plant will have a power generation capacity of 331 megawatts and will produce approximately 465 tons of steam per hour. Construction is scheduled for completion by June 2029, after which the plant will provide electricity and steam for 17 years.
KEPCO said the project is an expansion of the first phase of the 317 MW Jafurah power plant, which it won through an international tender in 2022 and expects to complete by the end of June.
