July 9 (Reuters) - OpenAI revealed on Thursday that it has added ChatGPTWork to its popular chatbot, designed to perform tasks across various applications and files, in a move that represents the startup's latest effort to automate the work environment.
The company said that ChatGPT Work, powered by GPT-5.6 technology, is able to collect content from applications, files, and workflows to create documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports, and websites.
This launch reflects the intensifying competition in the development and sale of artificial intelligence tools for professional use, as technology companies seek to capitalize on the growing demand for autonomous tools capable of accomplishing complex tasks with minimal human intervention.
The launch of ChatGPTwork comes after Anthropic, a competitor to OpenAI, intensified its efforts months ago with its CloudCore tool, which is capable of planning and independently executing multi-step tasks.
OpenAI, which is preparing for its initial public offering, also announced a new ChatGPT desktop application and a website hosting feature to enable users to create and share websites directly via Work.
OpenAI (ChatGBT Work) will launch today on the internet and mobile phones, and will expand its reach over the next few days.
