Senior US officials: Iran told Washington officials that the latest attacks on shipping were from a "rogue element of its regime".
WASHINGTON, July 10 (Reuters) - Senior U.S. officials said the United States is demanding that Iran issue a public statement confirming it has stopped attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz and that all shipping lanes in the Gulf are open to freight without fees.
Officials indicated in statements to a limited group of journalists that talks between the two countries had been fruitful in recent days.
