Two sources: No bids in Indian Oil's tender to charter cargo ships from the Gulf

- Indian Oil Corp. has not received any bids in tenders to charter vessels to transport crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shipments from ports in the Strait of Hormuz, two trade sources familiar with the matter said.

India’s largest refiner and fuel trader last week issued three tenders to charter a supergas carrier, a super crude oil tanker and a Suezmax tanker.

One shipbroker said, "No one wants to risk entering the strait yet. Most ship owners are sticking to waiting and watching, as they want clarification on the conditions for entering the strait."

Indian Oil was seeking to ship around 45,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas between June 30 and July 4 from the ports of Ras Laffan in Qatar, Al Ahmadi in Kuwait, or Ruwais in the UAE.

The refinery was looking to charter a supertanker to transport crude from Mina Al-Ahmadi between June 28 and 29, and a Suezmax tanker to load a cargo between June 29 and 30 from Ras Al-Khafji port in Saudi Arabia for delivery to the west coast of India.
