- OpenAI revealed on Thursday that it has added ChatGPTWork to its popular chatbot, designed to perform tasks across various applications and files, in a move that represents the startup's latest effort to adopt automation in the workplace.

The company said that ChatGPT Work, powered by GPT-5.6 technology, is able to collect content from applications, files, and workflows to create documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports, and websites.

This launch highlights the intensifying competition in the development and sale of artificial intelligence tools for professional use, as technology companies seek to capitalize on the growing demand for autonomous tools capable of accomplishing complex tasks with minimal human intervention.

Prior to the launch of ChatGPT Work, OpenAI's AI agent offerings included Operator and Deep Search, which the company later integrated into ChatGPT Agent for individual users, as well as Workspace to automate workflows in organizations.

The launch of ChatGPTwork comes after Anthropic, a competitor to OpenAI, intensified its efforts months ago with its Cloudwork tool, which is capable of planning and independently executing multi-step tasks.

Earlier this year, Anthropic launched add-ons to its Cloudwork program to automate tasks in the legal, sales, marketing, and data analytics sectors. This move led to a sharp decline in the shares of software and professional services companies in the US and Europe, amid concerns about the widespread impact of artificial intelligence on the data analytics industry.

OpenAI, which is preparing for its initial public offering, also announced a new ChatGPT desktop application and a website hosting feature to enable users to create and share websites directly via Work.

OpenAI (ChatGBT Work) will launch today on the internet and mobile phones, and will expand its reach over the next few days.
