- Al Shabab returned to winning ways in the Saudi Professional League with a 3-2 victory over visiting Al Ittihad on Sunday.

Al Shabab, who achieved their first win in seven matches, raised their tally to 35 points in 13th place, while Al Ittihad, the defending champion, remained fifth with 55 points with one round remaining in the season.

Captain Yannick Carrasco played a starring role for the home side, providing two assists for Ali Al-Bulaihi and Haroun Camara at the start of the second half, before scoring the third goal in the 87th minute.

Houssem Aouar narrowed the gap for Al Ittihad to make it 2-1 in the 67th minute, but Al Shabab held on to the win, before Danilo Pereira scored the second goal for the visiting team in stoppage time.

Substitute Abdulaziz Al-Othman received a red card near the end after an altercation with Danilo, leaving Al-Shabab to finish the final minutes of the match with ten players.

Al Shabab almost took the lead in the first half, but goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic saved more than one opportunity, the most dangerous of which was deflecting Carrasco's shot and then stopping Kamara's attempt, who followed up the rebound in the 22nd minute.

Al-Bulaihi gave Al-Shabab the lead in the 54th minute after receiving a cross from Carrasco following a free kick and heading it in from the far post.

As Al-Ittihad tried to regain their balance, Carrasco advanced into midfield and sent a perfect pass behind the defense to his teammate Kamara, who fired a low shot into the far corner past goalkeeper Rajkovic to double Al-Shabab's lead within five minutes.

Aouar capitalized on a rebound after a corner kick to reduce the deficit, giving Al-Ittihad a chance to get back into the game.

Aouar came close to scoring the equalizer in the 81st minute, but former Al-Ittihad goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe brilliantly deflected his powerful shot for a corner kick.

Al-Ittihad pressed for an equalizer, but Carrasco led a counter-attack before unleashing a low shot with his left foot to restore Al-Shabab's two-goal lead three minutes from the end and secure the victory for his team.

Danilo Pereira scored a second goal for Al-Ittihad, but it was not enough for the visiting team to come back as the referee blew the final whistle as soon as play resumed.
