WASHINGTON, July 21 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent said on Tuesday that there has been a significant drop in China's purchases of Iranian oil.
"We have imposed sanctions on... independent Chinese refineries, and we have seen a significant decrease in Beijing's purchases of Iranian oil," Bisent said in an interview with Fox Business.
He added, "In general, the Chinese have reduced their purchases of crude oil over the past few months by about 40 percent due to prices and also because they possess huge strategic oil reserves, and this move would put direct pressure on the Iranian regime."
