To add details

- The White House announced that U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order modifying tariffs on some imports of copper, aluminum and steel.

The announcement reduces tariffs on certain products made from steel and aluminum derivatives, including certain types of agricultural machinery and residential heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment, to 15 percent from the previous 25 percent.

The White House said in a statement that the decree subjects mobile industrial equipment, such as bulldozers and forklifts, to a 15 percent tariff "when imported from countries that have qualifying trade agreements with the United States."

The decree also qualifies foreign companies to receive a 10 percent duty if their "capital equipment includes at least 85 percent U.S. molten and cast steel or aluminum by weight."

The decree adds two new categories of imported steel and aluminum derivative products that will be subject to a 25 percent duty: steel racks and aluminum lithographic printing plates.

The changes will take effect on goods imported or withdrawn from customs warehouses after 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (0401 GMT) on June 8.

The White House stated that these changes will continue until December 31, 2027 "to stimulate short-term investments that will rebuild the United States' industrial base."
