LOS ANGELES, July 6 (Reuters) - Australian actor Luke Bracey sees his joining Netflix's 2026 series "Little House on the Prairie," based on the 1935 classic book, as a return to a story that has resonated across generations.
The series revolves around a family living in the American West during the nineteenth century who go through the ups and downs of life, but in the end, its members hold on to their love for each other, a theme that Presi believes is timeless.
"It's no mistake or coincidence that the story and the family have been so loved by so many people for so long," said Precy, who plays Charles Ingalls, the father of main character Laura Ingalls.
The "Little House on the Prairie" series and books are based on the real experiences of Laura Elizabeth Ingals Wilder, who drew inspiration for her stories from her childhood in a pioneer family. The book series was published in the 1930s and 1940s.
The series depicts the Ingalls family adapting to life in the newly discovered frontier regions. It also tells the stories of colonial settlers and Indigenous people.
The series also features Alice Halsey as Laura, Crosby Fitzgerald as Laura's mother Caroline, and Skywalker Hughes as Laura's older sister Mary.
While the series highlights a number of poignant themes, Halsey spoke about the challenges Laura faced growing up as a girl living in the 19th century.
"I think the boys had more privileges," she said.
She added, "Girls did not have the same opportunities as boys at that time. Girls did not receive the same level of education as boys," noting that she would not have been able to do many of the things she loves today if she had lived in Laura's time.
The series is led by creative director and executive producer Rebecca Sonnenschein, and a second season was decided upon before the first episode of the first season aired.
Hughes said, "We were able to create a lot of great and perfect memories last season, and now we have the opportunity to go back and create even more."
The eight-episode series begins streaming on Netflix on Thursday.
