Oman News Agency: The Sultanate of Oman says ships wishing to transit must coordinate with the International Maritime Organization.
June 23 (Reuters) - Oman announced on Tuesday that it has coordinated with the International Maritime Organization to provide a temporary sea corridor for ships wishing to cross the Strait of Hormuz, the Omani News Agency reported.
The agency added that "ships wishing to cross must coordinate with the International Maritime Organization... according to the coordinates announced by the International Maritime Organization and the competent Omani authorities."
This measure aims to ensure freedom of navigation through this strategic sea corridor in accordance with international law and the law of the sea, which support freedom of navigation without imposing transit fees.
