Notice of Cost Price Adjustment

At the request of users, we have updated the formula for calculating the cost price. If you frequently trade stocks, your cost price may undergo slight adjustments.

For example, suppose you execute the following trades for SAUDI ARAMCO:

  • Buy 100 shares at $5
  • Sell 10 shares at $7
  • Buy 100 shares at $6

After these transactions, your current holdings will be 190 shares, and suppose the stock trading fee is 1% of the transaction amount. Your order details are as follows:

Action

Quantity

Net Amount

Fees

Buy

100

$500

$5

Sell

10

$70

$0.7

Buy

100

$600

$6

The following are the final cost prices based on different formulas:

Avg. Cost

Avg. Price

Old

(500+5+600+6)/(100+100)= $5.56

(500+600)/(100+100)= $5.50

New

{ (500+5) - 10* (500+5)/100 + (600+6) } / (100-10+100) = $5.58

( 500- 10* 500/100 + 600 ) / (100-10+100) = $5.53

* The cost price has been rounded to two decimal places.
