Zawya - Press Releases: ENOC signs MoU with Allied Biofuels Holdings to explore cooperation in sustainable aviation fuel supply

Dubai, UAE: ENOC Group, a leading global integrated energy company, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi-based Allied Biofuels Holding to explore opportunities for the procurement and distribution of Sustainable Air Fuel (SAF) and Sustainable Electric Air Fuel (e-SAF) in local, regional, and international markets. This fuel will be supplied from Allied Biofuels Holding’s integrated production facility, which is currently under development in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The two companies agreed to form a dedicated working group to assess the commercial viability of establishing a long-term distribution route for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and electric sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF). In accordance with the assessment framework outlined in the memorandum, the companies will work towards a formal supply agreement before the facility becomes operational.

Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is one of the most viable near-term options for reducing carbon emissions in the global aviation sector, with demand significantly exceeding current global production capacity. As a leading aviation fuel supplier in the region, ENOC Group can play a vital role in bridging this gap.

Allied Biofuels Holdings’ integrated facility for producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and electric sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) forms a production model that aligns with the long-term sustainability commitments of the UAE and the international aviation sector in general.

On this occasion, Hussain Sultan Lootah, Group CEO of ENOC, said: “Developing a national sustainable aviation fuel system requires developing the entire value chain, from production and certification to distribution and pre-purchase operations. This agreement reflects ENOC’s strategic commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions in line with the National Sustainable Aviation Fuel Roadmap 2030 and the UAE Climate Neutrality Strategy 2050. We seek to enhance the commercial viability and operational reliability of sustainable aviation fuel, contributing to achieving climate neutrality for the aviation sector in the UAE and ensuring its leadership in the global clean aviation landscape.”

For his part, Alfred Benedict, Managing Director of Allied Biofuels Holdings, said: “ENOC Group is one of the leading players in the energy sector, with deep expertise in aviation fuel and strong distribution capabilities across the region. This memorandum represents an important step towards developing a reliable supply route for sustainable aviation fuel and sustainable aviation electric fuel from our facility in Uzbekistan to local, regional, and global markets. As the aviation sector accelerates its adoption of sustainable fuels, Allied Biofuels Holdings is focused on building a reliable, scalable, and commercially viable supply platform that supports long-term decarbonization efforts across the sector.”

This announcement reflects ENOC’s continued commitment to building world-class capabilities in sustainable aviation fuel. With the group’s involvement across the entire sustainable aviation fuel supply chain, from production to distribution and pre-purchase, it is strengthening its strategic role in enabling the low-carbon aviation sector.
