Cairo, Egypt – GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) announced the signing of agreements with Middle Delta Electricity Production Company, a subsidiary of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, to implement strategic projects at the Banha and Nubaria power generation plants in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The scope of work includes implementing two advanced gas path technology upgrades on two 9F gas turbines at the Banha power plant, along with multi-year service agreements for the Banha and Nubaria power plants, spanning 15 and 8 years respectively. These initiatives are expected to support efforts to modernize the power generation infrastructure and improve operational efficiency.
These projects are expected to be implemented over three years, which is in line with Egypt’s broader efforts to modernize its electricity generation infrastructure, support energy security, and improve the efficiency of electricity production .
Engineer Mohamed El-Saeed Mohamed El-Abd, Chairman and Managing Director of Middle Delta Electricity Production Company, said: “ The agreements with GE Vernova include an initiative to upgrade the existing F -class gas turbines, which is expected to contribute to increasing the production capacity of each gas turbine, improving efficiency by approximately 2%, and thus generating additional quantities of electricity with more efficient use of fuel, and may also contribute to reducing carbon emissions per megawatt-hour .”
