Zawya - Press Releases: Madayn to begin implementing the first phase of Al-Suwaiq Industrial City this year
The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates “Madayn” continues to implement the infrastructure and facilities project for the first phase of Al-Suwaiq Industrial City in the North Al Batinah Governorate. The project is currently in the stage of analyzing the technical and financial bids of the companies that submitted bids, with implementation work scheduled to begin during the current year 2026.
Hamoud bin Abdullah Al Balushi, Assistant Director General of Al Suwaiq Industrial City, said that the infrastructure and facilities project for the first phase includes the development of (5) million square meters, including the establishment of the internal road network, water, electricity and sewage networks, and other basic facilities and services. The tender also includes the establishment of several greenhouse units to apply modern hydroponic farming techniques, which contributes to supporting food security and enhancing agricultural investment and supporting industries. Al Balushi pointed out that although the industrial city is still in the preparation phase for establishing the infrastructure; However, during the year 2025 it received more than (14) investment requests in various sectors such as food, marble, plastics and building materials, where it settled two of them, which will be established on a total area of more than 6800 square meters and with a total investment volume of 400 thousand Omani riyals, while the management of the industrial city continues to review the other investment requests in preparation for settling them in the next stage. Al-Balushi explained that Madayn offers exceptional incentives to investors in Al-Suwaiq Industrial City, the most prominent of which is exemption from the rental value for two years and then a reduction in the rental value by 50% for the following three years, with the aim of making it an attractive destination for local and international investments, especially with the availability of modern infrastructure and easy government services provided by Madayn.
It is worth noting that Madayn has prepared studies on investment opportunities that align with the economic diversification strategy and Oman Vision 2040. The Suwaiq Industrial City aims to attract high-quality investments in vital, value-added sectors, most notably petrochemicals, food processing and modern agriculture, energy and supporting technologies, recycling and environmental industries, light and medium industries, pharmaceuticals, technology and innovation, heavy industries, and logistics. The Suwaiq Industrial City represents a significant addition to the industrial cities system in the Sultanate of Oman, offering outstanding investment opportunities and competitive incentives. It will provide advanced infrastructure that contributes to creating direct and indirect job opportunities for citizens, empowering entrepreneurs to launch innovative projects, and boosting non-oil revenues for the national economy. The city also plays a crucial role in reducing geographical disparities in investment distribution, as the North Al Batinah Governorate is a vital strategic area from both a logistical and human perspective. Securing essential infrastructure and support services, particularly electricity, water, road networks, and communications, is fundamental to ensuring the sustainability of industrial and agricultural growth in the industrial city and achieving an integrated investment environment. A stable economy that supports economic diversification efforts and achieves the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
