Sharjah, in the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and Honorary President of the Emirates Publishers Association, Mansah Distribution Company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Malaysian Book City Foundation with the aim of enhancing the presence of Emirati books and Arabic content in the Malaysian market by making the publications of Emirati publishing houses available through the digital platform “ Book Capital”, one of the national digital platforms approved in Malaysia for the distribution and sale of books.
The signing of the memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of a shared vision to expand the horizons of cooperation in the publishing and distribution sectors, and to strengthen the bridges of cultural and knowledge exchange between the UAE and Malaysia through investment in digital distribution channels that support the access of Arabic content to new markets, and keep pace with the rapid transformation witnessed by the digital publishing sector.
Under the agreement, the distribution platform will make the publications of Emirati publishing houses available through the "Book Capital" platform of the Malaysian Book City Foundation, while the foundation will support the distribution of these publications within Malaysia, and facilitate the access of Emirati publishers to the local market through one of the most prominent national platforms specializing in the sale and distribution of books in the country.
The collaboration includes listing more than 3,000 titles from Emirati publishers, distributed by the platform company, on the "Book Capital" platform, which contributes to expanding the international reach of Emirati books, making Arabic content available to a wider segment of readers and educational institutions, in addition to opening new horizons for Emirati publishers in the Malaysian market.
The “Book Capital” platform includes a wide range of publications in various fields, including children’s books, novels in English, self-help books, history and culture books, and educational books, making it an effective platform to enhance the presence of Emirati books within the Malaysian cultural and educational scene.
In this context, His Excellency Rashid Al Kous, General Manager of Manassa Distribution Company, said: “The signing of this agreement represents a strategic step in the company’s journey towards expanding the presence of Emirati books in international markets, and creating sustainable distribution channels that allow Emirati publishers to access the Malaysian market through an approved national digital platform.”
He added: “We believe that building quality partnerships with leading institutions in the publishing and distribution sector is a fundamental pillar for promoting the spread of Arabic content, and enabling publishers to invest in the opportunities provided by global markets in a way that supports the growth of the UAE publishing industry and enhances its competitiveness.”
This agreement is in line with the strategy of the distribution platform company, which aims to expand its network of regional and international partnerships, develop quality distribution channels that enhance the spread of Emirati and Arab books in global markets, support the sustainability of the publishing industry, and consolidate the UAE’s position as a regional center for the production and exchange of knowledge.
