Zawya - Press Releases: Etihad Airways Doubles Flights to Kabul
The doubling of flights reflects the strength of ties between Abu Dhabi and Afghanistan, and supports communication, trade, and travel between the two countries.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Etihad Airways is doubling its flights between Abu Dhabi and Kabul from July 15, 2026, as the route's rapid growth since its launch has prompted the addition of a second daily flight in each direction.
Kabul joined Etihad Airways' network in March 2026, with four weekly flights. Demand has significantly exceeded expectations, with strong interest from guests traveling to or through Abu Dhabi to Europe and beyond.
Flights on this route are operated by Airbus A320 aircraft equipped with eight seats in business class and 150 seats in economy class. With two daily flights, travelers between Afghanistan and the UAE will enjoy greater flexibility in departure times, whether traveling for business or leisure.
Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates share deep-rooted historical ties, with the UAE hosting one of the largest Afghan communities in the Gulf region. For the hundreds of thousands of Afghans residing and working across the country, as well as those with business ties between the two nations, the extended schedule offers greater flexibility and improved connectivity.
In this context, Eric Dee, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, said: “The response to the launch of our flights to Kabul has been exceptional. Demand has been strong from day one, and operating two daily flights is a direct reflection of what our guests have expressed through their bookings. This rapid expansion is yet another example of the strategic approach we are taking in developing our network of destinations, which allows us to respond quickly to the wishes of our guests and reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position as an important gateway connecting regional markets to our global network.”
