The Arabian Gulf University is expected to sign contracts for a group of strategic projects tomorrow morning, Sunday, including a number of projects to complete King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City, in addition to projects to develop university facilities and infrastructure, in the presence of a number of Their Excellencies and Highnesses the Ministers and senior officials of the Saudi Fund for Development, in the Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Hall at the Princess Al-Jawhara Al-Ibrahim Center for Molecular Medicine, Genetics and Hereditary Diseases.
This step comes as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its institutional structure, upgrade its academic, research and service facilities, and support the implementation of its major development projects, in line with its future aspirations and to enhance its regional role in serving the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The ceremony will witness the launch of a package of quality projects that represent a new stage in the development of the university’s facilities and services, and contribute to supporting the quality of education and scientific research, enhancing the efficiency of the infrastructure, and providing advanced educational and research environments in accordance with the best global practices in higher education, as well as the completion of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City project, which represents one of the most important strategic projects of the university, and enjoys the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Saudi Fund for Development, and the continuous support provided by the Kingdom of Bahrain to the university as the host country of its main headquarters.
The ceremony program includes an opening speech by His Excellency the President of the Arabian Gulf University, Dr. Saad bin Saud Al-Fuhaid, and a speech by His Excellency the CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, Mr. Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Murshid, in addition to two visual presentations showcasing the university’s vision and future directions, and the most prominent strategic projects planned for implementation during the next phase.
The ceremony will also witness the signing of contracts for strategic projects including the Information Technology and Digital Systems project at King Abdullah Medical City, the City Furnishing project, the City Fencing project, the Water Network and Water Tanks Development project in the University Housing, the Electronic Gates project for the University Housing, the University Sports Club Construction project, the Third Expansion project for the Medical Simulation and Skills Center, the University Laboratories Development project, and the Animal Research Center Development project.
The projects associated with King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City represent a new step in completing this strategic project, which enjoys the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Saudi Fund for Development. This reflects the commitment to enabling the medical city to fulfill its future role in medical education, scientific research, and specialized healthcare. The remaining projects are an extension of the university's efforts to develop its academic and research facilities and services, benefiting from the supportive environment that the Kingdom of Bahrain has provided the university for decades. This has contributed to strengthening its institutional capabilities and solidifying its position as one of the leading joint Gulf higher education institutions.
