Zawya - Press Releases: Schneider Electric and Brands for Less partner to develop smart, low-carbon retail environments in the UAE
Adoption of Schneider Electric's "Eco Structure" building platforms to enhance energy performance, operational insights and long-term sustainability across "Brands for Less" stores.
Dubai: Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy technology, has signed a cooperation agreement with Brands For Less Group to adopt advanced smart building and energy management solutions in 26 of the group’s stores in the United Arab Emirates, with the aim of modernizing the retail infrastructure by relying on digital technology to improve operational performance, reduce energy consumption and support long-term sustainability goals, in addition to working on new expansion plans across the entire store network.
Under the collaboration, Schneider Electric will adopt the EcoStruxure Building Platform, including EcoStruxure Building Activate, Operation, and Advisor, enabling real-time insights into energy use and more efficient control in store environments.
The collaboration will begin with a structured pilot phase covering site surveys, data collection, use case identification, and the development of a comprehensive options document outlining the solution architecture, capital and operating expenditure models, key performance indicators, and a roadmap for implementing the proposed solutions. This evaluation will also serve as the foundation for future expansion into additional branches of the group.
Given that buildings account for approximately 34% of global annual CO2 emissions, and retail and other commercial spaces are among the most energy-intensive, improving energy performance in retail environments is a crucial step towards more sustainable operations. This collaboration will contribute to integrating efficiency and smart resource management into the daily operations of retail businesses.
Amal Al Shazly, President of Schneider Electric for the Gulf region, said: “Our collaboration with Brands For Less sets a new standard for more efficient and sustainable retail operations in the UAE. By combining Schneider Electric’s Ecostructure building technologies with Brands For Less’ dynamic retail footprint, we ensure real-time energy information and data-driven decision-making on a broad scale. This collaboration aligns with the UAE’s vision to promote sustainable projects while adding tangible value to the retail sector.”
Khaled Arnaout, Chief Operating Officer of Brands For Less Group, said: “At Brands For Less Group, we are constantly looking for solutions to enhance operational efficiency that align with the Group’s long-term sustainability ambitions. Our collaboration with Schneider Electric allows us to take a data-driven approach to managing our stores, improving performance while reducing our environmental footprint. This collaboration also underscores our broader commitment to contributing to the UAE’s sustainability agenda while adding long-term value to the retail sector.”
As the partnership progresses, Schneider Electric and Brands for Less aim to develop a scalable model for digitally enabled, low-carbon retail environments that can be widely implemented across the region.
